- 11/19/2006
The night before my whole family gathered at my parents house for dinner. So that was nice. Then Shaun left for our place so we could uphold the tradition of not seeing each other until the next day and I stayed. I guess you could say we had a martini themed wedding with tables named for alcohol, shot glass favors filled with truffles, martini glass table name holders, and a Midori Sour Martini toast. The weather was absolutely perfect, the drinks were flowing from the open bar, the food was great, our special vegetarin dinners were so elegant, the cake tasted and looked wonderful, the flowers were beautiful, the amber uplights glowed, the limo was fun, 1st dance to "Soul and Inspiration" by the Righteous Brothers, father daughter dance to Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight", the speeches evoked tears, my bridesmaids looked stunning, the guys were all handsome in their tuxes, guests danced for hours, the DJ played Rancid, hundreds of tea lights lit the room, all of the tiniest details matched the sage green color I chose. And for the surprises: The DJ introduced the wedding party to Dropkick Murpheys, the maid of honor and bestman to Social Distortion, and The bride and groom to Rancid's 'She's Automatic'. Shaun and I were totally caught off guard by the entrance of the bagpipe player that my parents secretly hired to play Dropkick Murphy's songs for us. (Neither of us is Scottish, but I've always wanted a bagpipe player at my wedding). Shaun snuck out the day before, went to the florist, and decorated our suite ahead of time. I surprised my parents (and anyone that knows how shy I am and how much I despised public speaking- so all of our guests) by giving a toast thanking my parents because they greatly deserved it (apparently I made a lot of people cry). Pretty much my parents gave us a fantasy wedding. We had a blast and were so glad that our friends and family were there to share our day with us. We were also fortunate that those with bitterness in their hearts stayed far away so as not to put a damper on our celebration. I gained a great husband and Shaun officially gained a whole new loving family. By the end of the night I don't think we could have been having more fun, so we decided to carry on the party at our hotel. For all the planning, coordinating, time, money, and vendors involved, a lot could have gone wrong but didn't. Sure I was sick on my wedding day, the officiant said the wrong vows, and as I was about to walk down the aisle I realized I didn't have my veil (which caused a minor delay while looking for it in a panic, but we found it and avoided a $240 mistake), but I'll take those minor stresses any day for the rest to turn out so well. - albums: 13

"Irie" "No Problem" "Yah Mon" Apparently we like to go to foreign islands that start with the letter J where people drive on the wrong side of the road. All in all it was a great honeymoon although it would have been nice if it never rained (but as the locals said the island would not be so green without 'liquid sunshine'). Cat barf cookie. Chocolate Pringle. Andre's reaction to the "Reggae Queen". Was it 15 or 20 zombies, Shaun? Tons of fun, relaxing, and excitement.

Got up at 5:30 am to go to the airport, first leg was 3 hours, plus a 20 minute layover turned to a 4 hour delay, 2nd leg was 11 hours (watched tons of movies, tv and listened to the Stones), went to bed 28 hours later. - subfolders: 1 and albums: 14
